The Marrakech Express!!!!
The Marrakech Express!!!!
We took the Marrakech Express from Casa this morning and arrived in the hot, exotic city of Marrakech. It's Oct.2 and the heat was unbearable after exploring a little I quickly led Marc to the shade of a garden behind the famous mosque and we waited for the heat to subside a bit. Marc located a pelican nest(picture) and then we headed for the souks. There is everything and you can't show much interest or you are trapped in their little booths - I made a faux pas and tried to thank a very charming Arab man by shaking his hand. Men do not shake other woman's hands!!! He explained everything and told me that woman were so precious they are better kept safe at home!
We are staying at a wonderful Riad and will explore the city tomorrow. Then we head to the Ocean and relax. Will continue the blog and try and add a picture or 2 before I lose battery power.

week-end in Rabat
Got away for our first week-end to the capital city of Rabat. A cleaner, older version of Casa with some really interesting scenery. The kasbah(fortified old city) was impressive and we stayed in a hidden away riad right in the kasbah. The view of the ocean was beautiful and we swam and tryed to body surf. It is still Ramadan which makes it difficult to find restaurants and food but we managed to find a pricey tourist spot that was something out of The Arabian Nights.
The old medina went on forever with shops of every kind. We have bought a couple of basic household items but am waiting to get the knack of batering down. If any one wants rugs- man oh man this is the place!
We are back to reality with a meet the teachers tomorrow night Yeah Hoo!!!
Keep you posted,

Life in Casa
It will be 2 weeks tomorrow and it seems so far away. We are both well living every experience to its fullest. We go through a wild range of emotions each and every day- as we discover the city of Casablanca At times it is beautiful and exciting will others it is dirty and frustrating. Just living day to day is sometimes difficult as we learn how another culture works. We have met wonderful eople and Monday we met our new students. Have not taken alot of pics. but will post some when we have internet access.
